Holzhausen Wins North American Cup
It was a night of great feature racing at Dells Raceway Park, Saturday, July 5th. The Wisconsin Challenge Series presented the North American Cup. The United States Super Trucks raced double features. Topping off the racing was a huge fireworks display in honor of the Independence Day holiday.
With 30 cars in the field competition was fierce in the WCS competitions. Fast qualifier Jeremy Lepak secured his spot in the feature as the top sixteen qualifiers were guaranteed to start the feature. In the 25 lap qualifier the top six positions raced their way into the feature, which included DRP drivers Terry Patnode, Jim Carlson and Skylar Holzhausen as well as WCS drivers Jeff Weinfurter, Dillon Kralovetz, and John Totzke. Dells Raceway Park driver Steve Holzhausen claimed his first feature win for the season in the 100 lap WCS North American Cup
In the Limited Late Model division the fast qualifier was Tyler Sauter but when the invert of 12 was applied to the field it was Joel Soenksen who started on the pole. Throughout the 40 lap feature, Soenksen held off Kurt Clapper and took the checkered flag.
For the second week in a row, Travis Hancock set the fast qualifying time. Corey Jankowski was looking for a fourth feature win, but he was unable to work his way up to the front of the pack in time. Scott Luck started in fourth place and by lap 5 he had taken the lead. He held on to his first place position for the rest of the 25 lap feature race.
Brad Luck was the fast qualifier in the Pure Stock division Saturday Night, but it was Willy Schreiber who wanted the win in the feature. He worked his way up steadily through the field and in Lap 18 took the lead. He held on to the lead for the rest of the 25 lap feature and brought home his first feature win this season.
The United States Super Trucks raced both a 25 and 20 lap feature. In the 20 lap feature Tom Roney started in the pole position and led the race all the way. In the 25 lap feature race of the night Collin Lausen took the lead in lap 2 and kept the lead throughout the ract to take home the checkered flag.
